Transition from St Giles

Transition

Sarah Gough, our transition support manager,  works with pupils and parents from Year 9 to guide them in choosing their placement and course for Year 12. Most pupils will go onto special needs sixth forms and colleges to follow Life Skills or Level 1 courses. Students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties may stay at St Giles for three more years.

In recent years pupils have transferred to

  • Priory Sixth form
  • Clifton Hill Sixth form
  • Nescot College
  • Carshalton College
  • Croydon College
  • Valence School Sixth form (residential)
  • Orchard Hill (post 16 and post 19)
  • Nash College (post 19)

The PSHE and Work Related Learning curriculum supports preparation for life after St Giles, and parents are involved in discussions as part of the pupil’s Annual Review.

All pupils undertake a one week work-experience placement in Year 10, in school and in the local community.
