Dear Parents and Carers,

First of all, I hope that you and your family are staying well during this difficult time. If you need support over the Easter Holidays, the school will have a small team of volunteers available every day except the weekends and Bank holidays from 8am until 3pm. Please contact the school office on 0208 680 2141. If it is out of hours or you cannot get through by phone, please email us at office@st-giles.croydon.sch.uk .

We continue to work with school nursing, social care and yourselves to risk assess your child’s needs taking into account any health and safeguarding considerations. At the moment, most of you have decided it is safer for your child to be at home and socially distanced. If this ceases to be the case, please call to let us know.

Throughout the next two weeks we will continue to make calls home to discuss your plans and ask whether there are any issues we can help you with. We continue to pass on your concerns about the supply of pads, pull-ups and feeds to the school nursing service.

Those pupils who are eligible for free school meals should have received two Tesco tokens through the post this week. Please email us at office@st-giles.croydon.sch.uk or call us if you have not received this by Monday 6th April. These were purchased through Croydon Council. We are hoping to purchase further tokens through the recently announced national scheme.

There are now quite a few activities and websites for you to access via the tab on our website labelled ‘Home Learning’. You should also have received an email from your class teacher this week with some activities to try at home. Several parents have mentioned how much their children have enjoyed the songs recorded by Kerry, our music therapist and James, one of our Teaching Assistants. You will find these saved on our website at http://www.st-gilesschool.co.uk/home-learning-resources/.

Further information for parents and carers can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers.

Again, many thanks to our parents, Governors, the NHS team who support us and our amazing staff team, for the support and kindness shown across our St Giles Community this term.

Wishing you and your families all the best.

Yours faithfully,

Kathy Lewis
