Dear Parents and Carers,
We have exciting events to recall and some still to look forward to during this half term. The Summer Fayre was a wonderful opportunity to see old and new friends and celebrate the opening of the Nursery. We also welcomed Serena's family who unveiled a beautiful plaque in her memory. Thank you so much for your generous support. It was a truly memorable event.
This week we are hosting visits from Lower School parents to our Wow event and Upper School parents to share our virtual Summer Performance with your child. We will also be hosting Neil Garratt, the representative for Croydon and Sutton on the London Assembly. He is looking forward to meeting you and your children and to finding out more about St Giles.
Later in July we have a visit to the new SeeAbility clinic based at our school from Chris Philp, MP for Croydon South. We have received very positive feedback about this new service from parents and class teams. One of the last events of the year will be the School Prom for our leavers. This year we will be saying goodbye to four Year 11 learners, one Year 12 learner and three Year 14s. We wish them all well for the future and look forward to welcoming them back soon to Old Scholars events.
Sadly, we also be saying goodbye to Deborah Richards, Lower School Department Leader. Deborah is moving on to take up a post at another Special School. She has been at St Giles since 2011 and has worked incredibly hard to nurture learners, lead our Lower School staff team and develop an exciting curriculum offer for Lower School learners. She will be very much missed and we wish her well in her next post and thank her for her dedication and support.
We look forward to meeting with you next week in school, virtually or on the phone at Parents’ Evening to discuss your child’s progress this year. If you haven’t already completed a St Giles Parents’ Survey, we would be very grateful if you could complete one when you visit. We really value your feedback as it helps us to further develop, improve and be the best that we can be!
Wishing you all the best,
