Pupil Care and Support Assistants

St Giles School, Pampisford Road, South Croydon, CR2 6DF

 Start date: As soon as possible             Contract type: Temporary in the first instance

Grade:  1- 2      Scale Point: 1- 5          FTE Salary: £20,658 – £22,185 (dependent upon experience)

Hours: 4 hours 40 minutes a day / 23 hours 50 minutes a week (9.00 am – 1.40 pm plus 30 minutes a week for staff briefings) / 46.2 weeks per annum (term time only plus 5 inset days). Actual salary:  £12,116.39 –  £13,012.23 per annum.

or

3 hours 20 minutes  a day / 17 hours 10 minutes  a week (12.10 pm – 3.30 pm plus 30 minutes a week for staff briefings) / 46.2 weeks per annum (term time only plus 5 inset days).  Actual salary: £8,725.17 – £9,370.12  per annum.

This is a temporary role that we will be piloting initially.

We are currently recruiting for temporary Pupil Care and Support Assistants to join our hard working and supportive team at St Giles School.

We are a school for pupils with complex medical needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties who are aged from 2 to 19 years.  We are a happy and successful learning environment where we value creativity and celebrate everyone’s efforts to participate and contribute to the best of their ability.

 

Our Pupil Care and Support Assistants will support pupils’ personal care and personalised programmes at lunch time, in the classroom and in the swimming pool. This post is temporary, in the first instance, and will be reviewed on a regular basis in line with the requirements of the school.

The right candidate will be enthusiastic and willing to learn, preferably, with experience of working with children or in a care related environment. We will provide further training and support, fantastic colleagues and amazing children. This is a physically demanding role and all applicants must be willing to work across all age ranges within the school.

Casual Evening Cleaners Required

SCP 1-3 FTE £20,658- £21,408 pro rata

Hourly rate: £11.01-£11.41

We wish to recruit casual cleaning staff to cover cleaning staff absence. 

Hours will vary but will be between 3.45 – 6.45 p.m.  Monday – Friday term time, with the possibility of additional hours during school holidays.

Duties will include:

  • Cleaning, washing, mopping, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, emptying bins, polishing and dusting of designated areas.
  • Reporting hazards to the Caretaker such as blocked fire exits

Essential skills and abilities required:

  • Understanding of basic principles of health and safety
  • Ability to carry out work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required by the post, including lifting, carrying and pushing waste bins, cleaning trolleys and vacuum cleaners.
  • Ability to move school furniture (desks, chairs)
  • Able to fulfil cleaning duties when required and to the expected standard.

Midday Supervisory Assistants

 Start Date: As soon as possible

Part-time:  12:10 pm to 1.40pm Mon-Fri term time only

7½ hours per week Grade 2 – SCP 3-5 – £3,846.12- £3,985.68 per annum

(Additional hours may be available in the future)

We are seeking additional Midday Supervisory Assistants, to join our hard working and supportive staff at St Giles School. We are a school for pupils with complex medical needs, physical disabilities and learning difficulties and include pupils and students in Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Post 16. We are a happy and successful learning environment where we value creativity and celebrate everyone’s efforts to participate and contribute to the best of their ability.

Our Midday Supervisory Assistants work alongside our class staff: during the lunch period where their duties include feeding, personal care and engaging with pupils with a range of learning difficulties including some with very complex needs.

The ideal candidate will be a positive individual who is calm and caring and willing to learn new skills.  If you have good people skills, plenty of enthusiasm, and energy and enjoy working in a friendly environment, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Experience in working with pupils with special educational needs or young children would be beneficial but not essential for the right applicant.
